Discovery Boxes and teaware count toward gift thresholds but are excluded from the 15% discount. K KOU electric kettles are excluded from both the discount and gift thresholds.
  • Gift thresholds are in US dollars. Other currencies are converted using the exchange rate applied at checkout; eligibility is based on the corresponding USD merchandise amount.
  • Qualifying gifts are cumulative, with one set per order. The offer can be used on multiple orders; orders cannot be combined to reach a threshold.
  • Standard shipping is US$9.50 per order. Orders qualifying for the existing “No Shipping Fee for Discovery Box” offer receive free shipping, including other items purchased in the same order.
  • The 15% discount combines only with “No Shipping Fee for Discovery Box”; it cannot be combined with other discounts. The gifts described here are part of this promotion.
  • If a gift is unavailable, we may substitute another gift of equal or greater retail value without separate notice.
  • The same offer continues through Singles’ Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The collection, in depth

Collector’s shou: origins, vintages & craft

Compare ripe pu-erh selected for its current character, a named origin or a distinctive producer release. Read vintage, pressing and storage information separately, and choose the tea you want to drink rather than a guaranteed future value.

What “Collector’s” Means Here

What “Collector’s” Means Here

This collection is an editorial selection of ripe pu-erh chosen for its present drinking character, a particular release, a named origin or a producer series worth comparing. It is not an official quality grade, and it is not an investment category.

The selection includes older material and recent releases. Those are different reasons to explore a tea: one offers a developed cup today, another a particular fermentation style or format. A release year does not tell you every detail of its input material or storage.

The Xi’an Dry-Stored Shou collection is another path through ripe tea, emphasizing the stated storage and cup of its selections. The collections can overlap. Choose by what you want to drink rather than assuming one is a strict grade above the other.

Many products offer a smaller quantity. Check the current options before choosing; Bojun 2017 Original Edition is the full-cake choice rather than a sample.

Three Ways to Compare the Selection

Older material

Choose the developed cup

The 2005 Patient Years and 2006 Lincang brick offer older-material comparisons. Keep the material year separate from pressing and entry into any warehouse.

Origin and material

Compare the actual selection

Bingdao ripe coins, 2019 Chunming Ancient Tree and 2018 Chunming palace-grade ripe tea offer different material descriptions. Origin and leaf grade are distinct things.

Producer series

Follow a named release

Compare Bojun 7.0 with earlier Bojun editions, or explore Mu Ye Chun ripe vintages. A shared series name is context for tasting, not proof of an unchanged recipe.

A different aromatic style

Citrus or a later ripe cake

Tianma Da Hong Gan combines citrus peel and ripe tea; Jing Chang Hao Deep Velvet 2020 offers another producer’s ripe style. Check the current quantity and product-specific process.

Bojun: Four Releases Side by Side

Bojun: Four Releases Side by Side

Bojun gives this collection a useful producer-series comparison. The current range includes the 2017 Original Edition, 2019, 2020 and 2026 spring 7.0 releases. Differences between them can reflect production and material as well as storage; this is not a controlled test of age alone.

ReleaseWhy compare it?Current options
2026 Spring · 7.0A recent named release; read its own process and present tasting notes.View Bojun 7.0
2020A different release year to compare with 7.0 and 2019.View Bojun 2020
2019A further point in the series, judged by its current cup.View Bojun 2019
2017 · Original EditionThe Original Edition offered here as a full-cake selection.View Bojun 2017

Start with a smaller quantity of 7.0, 2020 or 2019 where available if you want to learn the series. Keep the water and portion similar for an initial comparison, then adjust each tea to its best balance.

Floral, fruity or mildly tart notes can be useful descriptions of a particular release. They do not require unverified laboratory percentages to justify them, and acidity is not a property that can be guaranteed to disappear after airing.

Older Material: 2005 and 2006

The Patient Years uses 2005 material pressed in 2025. This distinction matters: it is not a cake that has spent two decades tightly compressed. Its present texture and opening speed, not just the old material year, should guide brewing.

The 2006 Lincang brick is another older-material selection. Walnut-oil, camphor or woody notes describe the tasting direction; no single aroma can authenticate an age or establish a number of years spent in Xi’an.

Read harvest/material, pressing and storage dates separately wherever they are specified. Buy an older tea because you enjoy its current cup, not because a fixed age is promised to be a peak or because a future price increase is expected.

Bingdao ripe coins

The 2026 Bingdao ripe coins offer a portioned format and the origin described by the producer. Release year and input-material age are separate details. Use the stated piece weight and current pack options rather than assuming that every new release means newly made leaf.

Chunming ancient-tree selection

2019 Chunming Ancient Tree ripe pu-erh is a named material selection. Tree-age language should be read with the producer’s information; it does not independently establish mineral content, superiority to other leaf or a guaranteed remaining decade of development.

Palace / imperial grade

The 2018 Chunming palace-grade tea offers a fine ripe-tea sorting description. Gongting (宫廷) is not itself proof of a specific garden, altitude or pre-Qingming picking standard. Judge the finished tea and the material details actually supplied.

Citrus peel and ripe tea

Tianma Da Hong Gan pairs ripe pu-erh with citrus peel. The leaf and peel have their own histories. Choose it for that aromatic combination, rather than treating an aged citrus ingredient as a medical promise.

Who This Selection Is For

You do not need to be an experienced collector to enjoy one of these teas. The useful question is whether its current flavor, format and offered quantity suit you. If a named origin or vintage comparison is interesting, start small where the product allows.

For a straightforward daily format, compare Everyday Shou. For a selection focused on storage history, compare Xi’an Dry-Stored Shou. These are shopping paths, not universal boundaries on how often a tea may be drunk.

We do not present tea as an investment. Availability and price can change; buy for drinking or for following a tea you already enjoy, without expecting appreciation or indefinite improvement.

Reading the Wrapper, Date and Batch

Reading the Wrapper, Date and Batch

Check the actual product name, producer, tea type, material year, pressing date and any batch code against the description of the release you ordered. Not every wrapper displays all of these in the same way.

Material year

The stated harvest or material year describes the leaf. Older loose material can be pressed later.

Pressing or production date

A date such as 20190523 means 23 May 2019 only when identified as that date field. It is not a universal format for batch codes.

Batch or edition

Use the producer’s specific system. A batch identifier distinguishes a release; it does not alone prove the picking season or quality.

Internal ticket

A neifei (内飞) can be a useful cross-check, but cannot independently authenticate a garden, vintage or maker. Its design and placement vary.

If the product or markings differ from the edition you ordered, contact us with photographs. Keep the packaging with the tea so that its identifying information is not lost.

Brewing by Compression and Cup Strength

Use the leaf in front of you as the guide. Older material may have been pressed recently, while a newer release may contain rested material. Neither date alone tells you how quickly a portion will open.

A stronger cup7–8g / 100–120ml95–100°CStart short; extend gradually
Tightly compressed or knotted leafChoose a manageable portionHot waterAllow for the portion to open before lengthening every steep

A brief rinse can help open compressed leaf. Keep it short and separate from the first drinking infusion; it is not a food-safety treatment or a reliable way to remove caffeine.

Airing is optional. If you want to compare, separate only a small portion and rest it in a clean, protected container. Do not leave a whole cake exposed to room air for weeks or use airing to explain away persistent mustiness.

Storage: Our Method and Keeping Tea at Home

We store our teas in Xi’an under naturally occurring ambient humidity. We do not artificially control humidity. Conditions follow the seasons rather than a fixed humidity target; we keep the tea protected from moisture, direct sunlight and strong odors.

Read a product’s complete history where it is stated: time in a different location before it entered Xi’an is not automatically Xi’an storage. A production year should not be relabeled as a warehouse entry date.

Keep moisture out

Protect from dampness and condensation in packaging suited to your climate. Do not deliberately add humidity to hurry the tea.

Avoid household odors

Keep tea away from spices, coffee, cleaning products and other strong smells.

Protect from heat and light

Use a stable storage place away from sunlight and repeated temperature swings.

Check and taste periodically

Follow package instructions and inspect stored tea. Persistent musty or unusual odors deserve investigation; a drier room does not automatically make affected tea suitable to drink.

Further development is possible, but not guaranteed to improve every tea. Keep notes and decide whether you like its direction rather than assigning every vintage a fixed number of good years remaining.
