Join the Tea Community

Our customers and tea friends often gather on The Tea Table, a tea community on Discord originally created by tea enthusiast Liquid Proust in 2020.

Inside the server, members discuss tea, share tasting notes, and help each other learn more about Chinese tea.

Some of our customers have also started a small OrientaLeaf corner there to chat about the teas they’re drinking. If you'd like to meet other tea drinkers and join the conversation, you're warmly welcome to join.

The 2023 Spring Shou Mei Tea comes from Fuding, a renowned region celebrated for its white tea. This particular harvest is special, made from young leaves handpicked in the spring. The leaves resemble the brows of an old man, tender and full of promise.

Aroma and Flavor

When brewed, the tea releases a gentle aroma that is light and smooth, akin to a soft breeze. Its color is a warm orange-yellow, reminiscent of the sun in spring. Each sip offers a refreshing experience, leaving a pleasant memory that lingers.

Historical Significance

Fuding is often referred to as the "Hometown of Chinese White Tea," with a rich history of tea cultivation dating back to the Tang Dynasty. The region benefits from misty rains and a mild climate, supported by the nearby Taimu Mountain, which fosters the growth of robust tea.

A poignant story from Fuding features a girl named Langu, who discovered the healing properties of tea during a troubled time, symbolizing the deep bond between the local people and their cherished beverage.

Production Process

Creating Shou Mei tea is a meticulous process. The buds are carefully handpicked, allowed to wither to reduce moisture, and enhance flavor, before being dried to perfection.

Brewing Instructions

To brew this tea effectively, use water that is warm but not boiling. A recommended ratio is five grams of tea for every 100 milliliters of water. Steep the tea for about 50 seconds. Using a gaiwan or glass cup allows you to appreciate the tea’s color and aroma fully.

Conclusion

The 2023 Spring Shou Mei Tea is more than just a drink; it embodies a piece of culture and a taste of spring. Whether enjoyed alone or shared with friends, each sip connects you to the past, offering a simple yet profound pleasure in life.
