This is a Ru Ware Gaiwan produced in Jingdezhen.

Ru Ware was one of the five famous kilns in the Song Dynasty of China. The porcelain fired in Ru ware was simple and elegant in shape. The glaze used contained agate, so it was very precious. The colors of sky blue and green waves of the lake were used to describe the colors of Ru ware.

The glazed surface of Ru ware generally has crackles. The color changes are beautiful with daily use and the infiltration of tea soup.

Because the firing process was complex and the yield of finished products needed to be higher, there were fewer handed-down treasures, which were very precious. Ru kiln is an essential tea set for ceramic enthusiasts.

This Ru ware Gaiwan has a uniform thickness at the cup's rim. The glaze contains agate. After biscuit firing and shaping, it undergoes multiple glazing processes. The glaze is thick and has a good texture.

After coming out of the kiln, the glazed surface cracks due to temperature changes. Through continuous tea brewing and the infiltration of tea soup into the glazed surface, the textures gradually appear, and the more it is used, the more aesthetic it becomes.

This Gaiwan has an elegant shape. No matter from which angle you look at it, there is a feeling that nature and handcrafted objects are perfectly integrated.

We offer two patterns:

  • The Kylin pattern represents kindness, good fortune, happiness, and well-being. It is seen as an auspicious symbol.
  • The Phoenix pattern symbolized noble women and was also used to represent empresses in ancient China. It stands for rebirth, nirvana, and an indomitable spirit.

Specification:

  • The diameter of the bowl mouth is approximately 10.2 cm.
  • The height without the bowl stand is 7.5cm.
  • The height of the cup stand is 8.2cm.
  • The diameter of the base stand is 11.5 cm.
  • The capacity of the Gaiwan is 150 ml.
