Join the Tea Community

Our customers and tea friends often gather on The Tea Table, a tea community on Discord originally created by tea enthusiast Liquid Proust in 2020.

Inside the server, members discuss tea, share tasting notes, and help each other learn more about Chinese tea.

Some of our customers have also started a small OrientaLeaf corner there to chat about the teas they’re drinking. If you'd like to meet other tea drinkers and join the conversation, you're warmly welcome to join.

Bai Mu Dan White Tea is also known as 白牡丹 (Bái Mǔ Dān) in Chinese Pinyin and "pai mu tan" in Cantonese. It is named after its resemblance to a peony flower, as one bud and two tea leaves form the appearance of this tea.

This Bai Mu Dan White Tea comes from the main white tea-producing area in Fuding City, Fujian Province. It is classified as Bai Mu Dan White Tea and typically includes one bud and two leaves.

For information on classifying white tea grades, please refer to our blog, Fuding White Tea: A Delicate Symphony of Flavor and Wellness.

Bai Mu Dan / White Peony white tea is made simply by withering and drying the young leaves, preserving their pure and fresh taste.

We provide two grades of white tea.

(1) The top-quality tea leaves are picked right after the white hair silver needle, which is very similar.

(2) The first-grade leaves are picked later but still have excellent quality and meet the national standard for top-grade tea.

The top grade has a more refreshing taste, but its lower production makes it slightly more expensive.

This tea is a fresh mellow, sweet, round, thick, and smooth soup that feels similar to white hair silver needles (the best among the four types of white tea). It also has the high and rising aroma of Shoumei (the third grade among the four types of white tea). It is a white tea with both good soup and aroma.

For the best experience of the rich flower fragrance and high, rising aroma of this white peony tea, use a covered bowl (Gaiwan) or a glass cup for brewing. Our white peony tea is clear, fragrant, sweet, and mellow when brewed correctly.

To keep white peony tea fresh, avoid moisture, peculiar smells, intense light, vital oxygen, and high temperatures. Store it in a dry, calm, odor-free place away from intense sunlight and high temperatures to maintain its aroma and quality. This will help preserve the tea for longer.

We offer two options: natural whole-leaf loose tea and tightly pressed 300g tea cake. Both are good choices for tea drinkers.
