Here, master craftsmen compressed the processed leaves into dense bricks and moved them into specially controlled flowering rooms (Fā Huā, 发花).
Over many weeks, at precisely managed temperature and humidity, golden specks of Eurotium cristatum bloomed throughout each brick. This process changes the tea's chemical makeup, breaking down harsh compounds. As a result, the tea becomes less bitter and astringent, developing a deep, smooth sweetness and a unique smell.
