A smooth, full-bodied Wuyi Rock Tea with deep orchid aroma and lasting minerality—crafted from mature high bush Shui Xian trees.

A classic Wuyi Rock Tea from high-grown, mature Shui Xian trees.

Gao Cong Shui Xian is a premium variety of Wuyi Shui Xian oolong, made from tea trees that are naturally taller and older—typically 30 to 40+ years. These high-grown bushes develop deeper roots, absorbing minerals from the rocky soil of the Wuyi Mountains. The result is a richer, more layered taste that reflects the essence of the land.

This tea is crafted by Ruo Lan Tea Factory in Nanping, Fujian, a family-run workshop with over 50 years of experience. Their deep knowledge of traditional techniques is reflected in the character of every cup.

Aroma
Delicate and lasting, this Shui Xian offers a gentle orchid fragrance combined with mellow honeyed notes. The aroma is not overpowering; it stays close to the tea liquor, rather than floating above it.

Taste
Full-bodied and well-structured. The tea is smooth on the palate yet firm, with an elegant sweetness that lingers. Rich mineral depth is balanced by a clear floral edge—a hallmark of well-grown high bush Shui Xian.

Yan Yun (岩韵)
The aftertaste is long and cooling, with a pronounced rock rhyme. You’ll notice lingering fragrance at the back of the throat and a feeling of clarity across the mouth.

Appearance
The dry leaves are tightly twisted, dark and glossy, with a hint of pine smoke. Roasted in spring 2023 from the 2023 harvest.

Among the many Shui Xian teas we’ve sampled, this one stood out for its depth and quiet strength. It doesn’t shout for attention, but it rewards those who take time to taste. It is a grounded, honest tea—made with care by people who have devoted their lives to tea.
