"Jiang Jun Bei" (将军杯), literally "general's cup," describes a wide, low, and steady form in Chinese tradition — a silhouette of authority and composure, open and level rather than tall or narrow. This bowl carries that character in its broad mouth, low body, and full belly.
The glaze is a Tian Yan (天眼, "Sky Eye") oil spot: a deep black ground densely set with silvery crystals. Inside, the spots are small and tightly packed like a starry sky; outside, they grow larger and more distinct, with a metallic silver sheen and a faint blue-green iridescence where the light catches the surface.
Handcrafted in Jianyang, Nanping, Fujian — historically known as Jianzhou or Jian'an — and fired at 1300°C. The bowl is dense in hand and holds heat well; its iron-rich glaze is often said to soften the taste of the tea.
